'Christians seem to be so arrogant and dogmatic about what THEY think is true about God. I find that completely offensive. When Christians start to talk about DOCTRINE, I just feel like tuning them out.'

Well, as a Christian, I am not trying to DEFINE what Christianity is, I'm simply trying to DISCOVER what Christianity is. After all, I am not the final authority here. But it seems fair to say that ANY belief, whether religious or otherwise, IS defined by some set of belief principles. And I think Christianity is no different. Our faith system can be described. It can be defined. It has basic principles. It has limits and ideas that it finds acceptable and unacceptable.

'Why do Christians always get so hung up on the dogma? Why do they nit pick and fuss over the details?'

Probably because the details are what truly define a particular faith system from all the other choices out there. Look, if there is some other belief that seems to better fit one's observations and sense of reality, great; we should be allowed to explore those notions. But Christianity is clearly defined in the Bible and it seems rather irrational to try to make Christianity out to be something it is not. It would probably be wiser to simply follow some other set of beliefs if we are not willing to accept what the Bible says about the Christian worldview.

'Well, people disagree about what the Bible says all the time! Isn't it possible that you are misinterpreting what the Scriptures say about a particular doctrine? Why should I believe what YOU say?'

You shouldn't believe me, at least not without examining the Scriptures for yourself. This section attempts to present the classic Christian Biblical view of key terms and ideas as we examine the classic creeds of Christendom. But none of these definitions should be accepted until they are compared the the Biblical definitions, straight from the Scriptures. Let's take up the challenge to start examining these definitions and creeds for ourselves...
